KP Government Revolutionary Housing Scheme for Low-Income Families

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has taken a groundbreaking step to provide housing facilities for low-income individuals through the “Ehsaas Apna Ghar” scheme. This initiative aims to empower families by offering interest-free loans to build or renovate homes, improving their living conditions and quality of life.

MoU Signed for Ehsaas Apna Ghar Scheme

In a formal ceremony held at the Chief Minister’s House, an MoU was signed between the Housing Department and the Bank of Khyber to implement this transformative scheme.

The event was attended by:

  • Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, who presided as the chief guest.
  • Cabinet members Dr. Amjad Ali Khan and Muzammil Aslam.
  • Officials from the Housing Department and the Bank of Khyber.

Key Features of the Ehsaas Apna Ghar Scheme

Under this scheme, interest-free loans of up to Rs. 1.5 million will be offered to eligible individuals. The loans can be used for:

  • Constructing new houses.
  • Renovating and extending existing homes.

The program will operate with a budget of Rs. 4 billion over seven years, functioning as a revolving fund to ensure long-term sustainability.

  • Repayment Schedule: Loans will be repaid over seven years, with a maximum monthly installment of Rs. 18,000.
  • Eligibility Criteria: Land ownership is mandatory for individuals seeking loans.

Focus on Transparency and Welfare

Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur emphasized that the provision of quality housing is a top priority for the provincial government. He described the initiative as a major welfare project that not only provides housing facilities but also aims to improve the social and economic conditions of underprivileged families.

He stressed the importance of transparency in loan distribution, ensuring that only deserving individuals benefit from the program.

Part of a Broader Welfare Agenda

The Ehsaas Apna Ghar initiative is a key component of the provincial government’s broader welfare agenda under the Ehsaas program, which includes:

  • Ehsaas Naujawan: Empowering youth through educational and skill-building opportunities.
  • Ehsaas Hunar: Enhancing skill development for employability.
  • Ehsaas Rozgar: Creating job opportunities for low-income families.

These projects reflect the KP government’s commitment to uplifting underprivileged segments of society.
